Philadelphia Eagles star receiver AJ Brown started a fire in Dallas Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore during Week 14 by allegedly calling the five-time Pro Bowler old.

On Sunday night, the Cowboys crushed division rivals the Eagles 33-13 in front of a national audience. The victory was a tasty slice of revenge after Philly beat the ‘Boys 28-23 when the two teams met in Week 9. The win yesterday also moved Dallas into a first-place tie with the 2022 division champs.

While the media will heap a lot of praise on quarterback Dak Prescott and the offense for posting 33 points, the O was given countless favorable opportunities during the game due to an outstanding performance from the Dallas defense.

The Cowboys D limited one of the best offenses in the league to just 13 points, quieted their rushing attack, and held 2022 NFL MVP candidate Jalen Hurts to just 197 passing yards and no touchdowns. However, the biggest takeaway was the three fumbles Dallas forced on Sunday night.

Dallas Cowboys star Stephon Gilmore claims AJ Brown called him ‘old’ in Week 14

One of those turnovers came from star cornerback Stephon Gilmore when he stripped star wide receiver AJ Brown early in the third quarter. The moment was one of many victories Gilmore had over the two-time Pro Bowler after Brown apparently called him old early in the game.

“I just didn’t like how he called me old at the beginning of the game,” Gilmore said after the game. “So it lit a fire in me a little bit. I was mad. The only thing I could do was show him I was still here, and I think I did that today. I’ve been doing this my whole career. Covering the best guy and following him. It’s exciting because you know the ball is coming your way. I get up for those types of moments.”

Gilmore played man-to-man on Brown all night, limited him to just under 100 yards on nine catches, and held him to an average of 10.4 yards per catch. That’s nearly four yards below his season average. Brown is second in the NFL in receiving yards this season (1,258).

The Dallas Cowboys return to action in a big game against the Buffalo Bills in a Sunday afternoon matchup at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
