An absolute blockbuster to end all blockbusters with NFL training camps approaching. The Seattle Seahawks have added one of the top defensive players in the game in a trade with the New York Jets.
Jets trade All-Pro safety Jamal Adams to the Seahawks
There’s a whole heck of a lot to unpack here. Let’s break it down.
- Jamal Adams had requested a trade from the Jets earlier this offseason. Most recently, he called out Jets head coach Adam Gase.
- A two-time Pro Bowl performer, Adams has morphed into one of the top safeties in the NFL since New York made him the No. 6 overall pick back in 2017.
- The LSU product has been aiming for an extension that would make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL. It’s unknown whether Seattle will extend him ahead of the season.
- In return, New York gets a whole plethora of draft capital. Two first-round picks, one in each of the next two years. They also add a third-round pick and a plug-and-play safety in that of veteran Bradley McDougald.
This seems to be a great deal for both sides. For Seattle, it’s now closer to competing with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West. New York aims for building for the future.
