Major League Baseball is moving forward with its plan for the 2020 season, but there will not be an All-Star Game this season following an official announcement from the league.
MLB cancels 2020 All-Star Game
The 2020 All-Star Game was scheduled to take place on July 14 at Dodger Stadium before MLB suspended the start of its season in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now with Opening Day scheduled to take place on July 23, MLB announced on Friday that this year’s Midsummer Classic is canceled.
The decision was expected and comes just days after MLB canceled the 2020 minor league season.
After losing out on this year’s All-Star Game, the Dodgers will now host the event in 2022. The Atlanta Braves are still scheduled to host the 2021 All-Star Game at Truist Park.
