Future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees was never going to test the free-agent market. The New Orleans Saints star has indicated multiple times he plans on finishing his career in the Bayou.
That’s now closer to coming to fruition. Brees has signed a two-year contract with the Saints for a mere $50 million in cold hard cash.
This is what I would call a major hometown discount. The $25 million annually comes in 12th among quarterback. That’s before Tom Brady signs with a team and Patrick Mahomes earns a record-breaking extension with the Kansas City Chiefs.
For Brees, it’s all about winning as he finishes up one of the greatest careers in NFL history.
Brees, 41, put up nearly 3,000 yards with 27 touchdowns and four interceptions in 11 starts for New Orleans last season.
