Jason Witten hopes to keep playing for Cowboys in 2020

Jason Witten has spent 16 seasons in the NFL, all with the Dallas Cowboys. He’d like to continue that trend in 2020, though he realizes that may not happen.

Speaking on the topic, via Jon Machota of The Athletic, Witten said he hopes he can play for Mike McCarthy and the Cowboys next season but kept his options open. Importantly, he noted he’s spoke with McCarthy and stayed in touch with team owner, Jerry Jones.

Even after taking an entire season off to work in the booth for ESPN on “Monday Night Football,” Witten had a solid 2019 campaign. Appearing and starting in all 16 games for the ‘Boys, he tallied 63 receptions for 529 yards and four touchdowns.

Clearly Witten still has the drive to compete, and given Jones’ proclivity for keeping “his guys” around as long as possible, don’t be surprised if the veteran tight end is back in Dallas for the 2020 campaign.
