The Washington Redskins have reportedly locked up one of their most impactful players form the 2019 season, signing Pro Bowl punter Tress Way to a four-year contract extension worth more than $15 million.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the new contract will keep Way in Washington for the next five seasons. Both sides are finalizing the deal currently and he’s expected to sign it on Monday.
The 29-year-old is one of the best punters in the NFL. He ranks sixth in kicks pinned inside the 20-yard line (29), third in net yards per punt (43.8) and is first in yards per punt (49.2). He was named to the Pro Bowl for the first time this season and could receive All-Pro votes as well.
The Redskins have plenty of needs they must address in the 2020 NFL Draft, but punter will not be one of them following this extension.
