Pittsburgh Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger is sporting a massive beard these days and looks more like a mountain man than an NFL quarterback.
In fact, fans across the NFL had some hilarious reactions to the way Roethlisberger looked Sunday night as his team took on the Buffalo Bills.
So it was no surprise to hear NBC sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya provide an in-game update on Roethlisberger’s status, which included his explanation for the big beard.
During Sunday’s live broadcast on NBC, Tafoya explained that Roethlisberger has still not been able to start throwing a football again since undergoing season-ending elbow surgery. He told her that he won’t shave his beard off until he is able to take that critical step in his recovery.
So there you have it. Roethlisberger does have a pretty decent reason for not shaving his beard off. And if you do see him with his normal clean-shaven look, then you’ll know Big Ben is on the road to recovery.
