On a night that already saw Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster leave with a concussion, Cleveland Browns defensive back Damarious Randall was ejected after a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit on Steelers receiver Diontae Johnson.
After Johnson just missed hauling in a deep pass, Randall flew in and blasted him directly in the side of his helmet with Johnson unable to defend himself.
The officials immediately penalized Randall before the NFL’s replay center stepped in and had him ejected from the game for the egregious hit.
As the 27-year-old tried to contest the ejection and argue with officials, Johnson had to be helped to the medical tent with blood coming out of his ear.
Pittsburgh’s medical personnel quickly conducted an examination before taking Johnson into the locker room. The team is evaluating him for a concussion and will hopefully provide an update before the end of Thursday’s game.
