It sure the heck looks like Joe Flacco’s Denver Broncos career has already come to an end.
Head coach Vic Fangio announced earlier in the week that Flacco will not play Sunday against the Cleveland Browns due to a neck injury.
While the initial expectation was that Flacco would have to be placed on injured reserve, this report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggests that he’ll be out 4-6 weeks with a bulging disc in his neck.
This could force Flacco out through Week 14. That could also mean the end of his short tenure in Denver.
The Broncos currently sit 2-6 on the season and are just playing out the string.
Brandon Allen will get the start Sunday against Cleveland with rookie second-round pick Drew Lock likely set to see extensive action once he’s officially activated off injured reserve.
Flacco finished the first half of the season tossing six touchdowns compared to five interceptions en route to leading the NFL’s 28th-ranked scoring offense.
