Despite losing to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday night, the Brooklyn Nets remain very much in the Eastern Conference Playoff race.
In fact, Kenny Atkinson has his team as the seventh seed as Brooklyn closes up shop in what has been a surprising season for the team.
It’s also apparently going to get Atkinson some job security. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets are finalizing an extension for Atkinson and his coaching staff.
Atkinson, 51, has been Brooklyn’s head coach for the past three seasons. He took over a complete rebuild in New York, helping the Nets improve each of the past two seasons.
Prior to his stint in Brooklyn, Atkinson served as an assistant with both the New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks. He’s now one of the better coaching stories around the Association.
