For the first time since his trade request was brought out into the light of day, Anthony Davis has opened up about the news that’s shaken the NBA.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Davis repeatedly said, “I just feel like it’s my time,” Per ESPN’s Mike Triplett and said he “Gave the city, fans, organization everything I could. He also said he wants to compete for titles and that his “legacy” matters “a ton.”
Davis also said neither he or his agent gave the Pelicans any specific timetable or destination to trade him and that he wants the team to have all the time it needs to make the best possible decision for the organization.
Furthermore, he dispelled the notion that he might not play for the New Orleans Pelicans when he’s healthy, saying he full intends to do so.
Previously, head coach Alvin Gentry made it clear he had no idea where things stood on that front.
The latest Anthony Davis trade rumors indicate he wants to play with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, which should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody. However, the New York Knicks are also said to be a preferred destination, if that doesn’t work out.
