Considered one of the best young minds in the NFL, Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo didn’t even last a full season in that role with the team.
Following Minnesota’s brutal 21-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, the team has reportedly fired DeFilippo.

This is a major fall from grace for an assistant in DeFilippo that many considered to be a head coach in waiting. He was given a ton of credit for the improvement of Carson Wentz in Philadelphia, helping lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl title as their quarterbacks coach last season.
That came on the heels of DeFilippo serving in the same role with the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders earlier in his career. He was also the Cleveland Browns’ offensive coordinator back in 2015.
Following Monday’s loss, Minnesota ranks in the bottom half of the NFL in total yards and points scores. Given the team exhausted a huge contract on Kirk Cousins and entered the season as Super Bowl contenders, someone had to take the fall for a 6-6-1 start to the season. That guy is now apparently DeFilippo.
