After just one season as the top color man for CBS Sports’ NFL coverage in 2017, Tony Romo has been nominated for an Emmy award.
The broadcasting giant announced this news on Wednesday.
Congratulations to our new lead NFL and college football teams for their 2017 Sports Emmy noms highlighted by Jim Nantz, @tonyromo, Gary Danielson, @brad_nesslerCBS and @ALaForce in leading CBS Sports to 31 nods, the most this year by any one network.

According to 247 Sports, Romo will be competing against Kirk Herbstreit, John Smoltz as well as fellow CBS peers Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler for the award.
From the start last season, Romo was an instant star. His ability to tell viewers what they should expect to see happen became legendary, because he was so often accurate it was as if he was looking into the future.
Additionally, Romo’s unabashed enthusiasm for the job turned many people on to watching CBS when he was on, which is the hallmark of all the greats.
