Aldon Smith was in court Monday in connection with his recent arrest for alleged domestic violence. He is facing four misdemeanor charges stemming from that incident — domestic violence, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism.

The former NFL star reportedly pleaded not guilty to all charges, per TMZ Sports.

Smith was released by the Oakland Raiders one day after news broke that he had evaded police following the incident with his fiancee.

A former first-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers, he had a promising career going for him before off-field incidents became a huge issue. The 49ers released him back in 2015. Then he played in only nine career games for Oakland before other off-field issues landed him on the NFL’s suspended list.

Smith cooperated with another domestic violence investigation back in February of 2017 and also was detained by police in March of 2017 after an incident with a police cruiser. Last September he reached a plea deal in a DUI case that saved him from serving jail time.
