One day after news broke that Aldon Smith had been involved in another domestic violence incident, the Oakland Raiders officially cut ties with the embattled pass rusher.

Sunday evening, police were in the process of trying to find Smith, who fled the scene before the police arrived. The woman in this alleged attack is said to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Before being released, Smith was listed on Oakland’s reserve/suspended list and had not played in the NFL since 2015 season. A troubled young man with a history of off-field incidents, Smith cooperated with another domestic violence investigation back in February of 2017 and also was detained by police in March of 2017 after an incident with a police cruiser. Last September he reached a plea deal in a DUI case that saved him from serving jail time.

Smith was previously released by the San Francisco 49ers back in 2015. It’s likely his NFL career, which was once flourishing, is over.
