Pete Carroll: ‘I ain’t going anywhere’

Prior to Week 17’s game, Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll shot down rumors that he might retire at the end of the season. With Seattle’s 2017 season now over, the coach’s stance has only become more clear.

While the 2017 season wasn’t a complete disaster for the Seahawks like it was for the Oakland Raiders or New York Giants, it was definitely a disappointment.

Despite numerous injuries, Seattle did finish with a winning record, going 9-7. But for only the second time in Carroll’s tenure with the Seahawks, they missed the playoffs.

Worse than the record was that, at times, Carroll didn’t seem to have much control over his team. The most notable incident came at the end of a Week 14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars (which you can see here).

But beyond that once incident, Seattle was the most penalized team in the NFL, both in terms of total penalties and penalty yardage.
