Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was injured early in the first quarter when he went in for a tackle in the middle of the field. Leading with his head first, eyes down, he collided with one of his own players and a Cincinnati Bengals player. When the play was over, Shazier remained on the ground, clutching at his back in obvious pain.
The Steelers training staff had to bring a stretcher board out, and Shazier was carted off the field. And the scary part is that Shazier wasn’t moving his legs.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan Shazier, his family and friends as he gets examined following this injury. He was quickly taken to a hospital in an ambulance after being stretchered off the field.
#50 Ryan Shazier has been taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a back injury.
At this point, his status is unavailable.
