The Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of getting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater back. After missing the last 16 months with a serious knee injury, Minnesota will reportedly activate Bridgewater to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.
That’s the good news. But according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Vikings are also considering placing fellow quarterback Sam Bradford on injured reserve.

This is a whole lot of information in one tweet. Bridgewater was long expected to be activated to the 53-man roster after he returned to the practice field last month. The potentially larger story here is that Bradford might be out for the remainder of the season.
Bradford has played less than two full quarters of action since suffering what’s being described as a bone bruise in his knee back in Week 2. There’s some suggestions out there that this injury might be more serious than Minnesota has indicated publicly.
For now, it appears that Case Keenum will be the short-term starter for Minnesota. He’s performed well in stop-gap duties and will start Sunday against Washington.
The Vikings come out of their bye with a 6-2 record and a stranglehold on the NFC North. There’s no reason to sit Keenum in favor of a quarterback in Bridgewater who has not seen live-game action since January of 2016.
