Are you interested in attending Yankee Stadium on Derek Jeter Night, May 14 of 2017? Maybe a better question would be: Are you interested in shelling out gobs of cash to watch Jeter be honored on that night?
Anyone interested in attending Derek Jeter Night will need to have plenty of cash stashed away, because ticket prices are going through the roof, per George A. King III of the New York Post.
“Bleacher ticket prices for the Jeter game are priced at $140-$155, according to the team’s ticket Web site. That’s a 604 percent increase over the same seats for the April 13 game against the Tampa Bay Rays. It’s a 181 percent increase over the price of bleacher seats for the Aug. 14 game vs. the Mets.
“And it’s not just bleacher seats that are sky high for Jeter night. Grandstand seating prices range from $150-$160 for the 7:45 p.m. game against the Astros when Jeter’s No. 2 will be retired and a Monument Park plaque will be dedicated to The Captain. That’s up 414 percent from the Rays game ($10-$31) and 391 percent over the Mets offering ($10-$45).”
Jeter’s No. 2 jersey will be retired that night, the last single-digit number the Yankees had available. This means nobody else in the history of Yankees baseball will be wearing a single-digit jersey. Jeter also will become the 21st Yankee to have his jersey retired.
No doubt, devout Yankees fans will happily pay the piper to witness the spectacle live. Jeter was beloved throughout his 20-year career, and even now he’s a man people are clamoring to see. He’ll no doubt receive an emotional send-off this spring.
