Draymond Green suspended for Game 5

Draymond Green

In what could be a huge story leading up to Monday’s Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was suspended for the potential series-clinching outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This is absolutely absurd in every possible definition of the term. Green got into it with Cavaliers forward LeBron James during the Warriors Game 4 win over Cleveland on Thursday, at which point he potentially swung at James’ crotch area before attempting to land a punch.

This came after James had thrown Green to the ground, stepping over the All-Star after doing so.

It could have a huge impact on Golden State’s ability to end the series at home on Monday. And it really is the NBA making a decision based on reputation. Green was retroactively given a Flagrant 1 foul, leading to the suspension.

Remember, Green had has his fair share of on-court issues in the playoffs, ultimately meaning that another flagrant would lead to said suspension.

The Warriors will now have to close out the series without a player that’s averaging 14.8 points, 9.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists in the Finals.
