Yankees postpone Opening Day due to weather

New York Yankees fans will have to wait one day longer than they’d like to welcome the 2016 MLB season. As announced by the team on Twitter Monday morning, Opening Day had to be postponed due to inclement weather.

The culprit here is Winter Storm Ursula — an aptly named monstrosity coming down from the Great Lakes that is currently bringing snow down to the Northeast states.

While no snow is expected in New York, plenty of rain and some wind will be pounding the pavement in the Big Apple today, along with some lower-than-you’d expect temperatures for this time of year.

The Yankees will host the Houston Astros tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5, instead to get the season kicked off. Let’s hope Mother Nature cooperates.
