WATCH: Yankees set single-season HR record on Gleyber Torres’ two-run shot

After New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge’s solo shot tied the single-season record for home runs by a team on Friday, infielder Gleyber Torres helped the Yankees break the record on Saturday.

In the fourth inning against the Boston Red Sox, Torres drilled a two-run shot off Eduardo Rodriguez and the Yankees set a single-season record with their 265th home run of the season.

New York’s achievement comes in a year where Judge missed nearly two months with an injury, Giancarlo Stanton slumped to begin the season and Gary Sanchez has posted a sub-.200 batting average.

After setting the MLB record this season, it’s reasonable to think a healthy and more consistent lineup next year could see New York break its own single-season home run record in 2019.
