As the New York Yankees gear up for the postseason, they made sure to become a part of MLB history along the way. On Friday, Aaron Judge’s solo home run helped tie the MLB record for home runs in a season by a single team.
In the top of the eighth inning at Fenway Park, Judge drilled a solo shot to center field for his 27th home run of the season and the 264th home run hit by a Yankees player this season, tying the Seattle Mariners 1997 record.

In a season where Gary Sanchez has struggled and Judge missed significant time on the disabled list, it’s incredible to see New York still achieve this historic mark.
There is still plenty of time for New York to become the single-season leader for home runs in a season. They just need one more home run, then fans can celebrate the moment and enjoy it a little more because it would have happened at Fenway Park.
