The Washington Commanders will pick No. 2 in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Washington Commanders will take a quarterback with that selection.
New Commanders general manager Adam Peters does not necessarily have the best of poker faces among those at his position.
He spoke to the media on Thursday during a pre-draft press conference. When asked about Washington’s plans, Peters made it perfectly clear in what direction they are going to go.
“We’re real close. There’s still a few more things in the process we have to. I’m pretty process-driven,” Peters told reporters. “We have to debrief on our 30 visits with the whole staff. We have a medical meeting as well.”
While Washington has taken calls from teams looking to trade up, it always made sense for the team to stay at two and select a quarterback. One of Peters’ first major decisions in this role was to trade 2023 starter Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks. It creates an obvious void at the all-important quarterback position.

Washington had a group of prospects in for visits this week — at the same time. The team’s brass took them to Top Golf. It was apparently a way to gauge the prospects in a group setting.
With Caleb Williams slated to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears next week, it sets up a ton of intrigue. Fellow quarterbacks Jayden Daniels (LSU), Drake Maye (North Carolina) and J.J. McCarthy (Michigan) are all under consideration.
