One NFL executive believes the Washington Commanders will be open to moving much more than just Chase Young and Montez Sweat before the 2023 NFL trade deadline.
After getting off to a 2-0 start to begin the season, the Washington Commanders have gone into a notable slump. They have lost four of their last five and hit a low point in Week 7 when they struggled mightily in a 14-7 loss to division rivals the New York Giants.

The team is clearly not going to contend for an NFC East title this season and it is starting to look more and more like they will be hard-pressed to secure a playoff spot in 2023. That is why the organization may have to make some difficult decisions before the Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline.
There has been a great deal of speculation already about the availability of stud pass rushers Chase Young and Montez Sweat. Both men are in the final year of their contracts and the organization does not seem to be interested in locking either up to a long-term extension. While both will likely be up for grabs before Halloween, they may not be the only players available.
Washington Commanders could be in fire sale mode before Oct. 31 trade deadline

On Tuesday, The Athletic’s Commanders insider Ben Standig took a look at the team’s situation heading into the deadline and received some interesting thoughts from an NFL executive on Washington’s approach for the next week.
The exec believes they “will sell” before Oct. 31 despite not showing their hand yet, and that many players could be up for grabs in the organization’s pursuit for “value.”
“They won’t say it publicly, but they will [sell],” the executive said. “They’re looking for value. All on the table.”
If they do dive headfirst into a major sale of players, Standig speculated that Kameron Curl, Kendall Fuller, Curtis Samuel, and Antonio Gibson could be trade chips since they are in contract years. Plus, tight end Logan Thomas, left tackle Charles Leno Jr. and backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett are players that might draw interest on the trade market.
