While the Atlanta Hawks scored a much-needed win on Monday night, one moment late in the game showed more evidence of a franchise melting down and on the verge of some major shakeups this offseason.
It now seems like it was ages ago when the Atlanta Hawks were 41-31 on the NBA standings and went all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2020-2021. After their surprise run in that year’s NBA playoffs, it seemed like the team was heading into a new era of consistent winning and Trae Young would be one of the new faces of the league.

However, since that magical season, things have gone downhill. The following year they lost 39 games, in 2022-23 they were a .500 team, and this season they are several games under .500 and fighting just to make it to a Play-In Tournament game later this month. Young is at the center of new trade rumors, and head coach Quin Snyder has done worse leading the team than his predecessor Nate McMillan.
Monday brought another instance of a team that is a shell of its former self and headed to big changes in the offseason. During the fourth quarter of the Atlanta Hawk’s eventual 113-101 victory over the Chicago Bulls a moment was caught on video of guard Bogdan Bogdanovic angrily confronting Snyder on the sideline during a timeout.
Bogdan Bogdanovic says Atlanta Hawks are ‘fighting all the time’ with each other
The awkward confrontation can be viewed above and the situation received mixed reactions from teammates as some immediately jumped up to separate the two while others can be seen laughing at the absurdity of an argument during a dominant win.
What made it even more concerning is that Bogdanovic claimed after the game that “we are doing this almost every other minute or we are verbally fighting all the time, which is normal. That means we both care and everyone cares.” The team has performed better of late and won five of their last six for whatever it’s worth, but it still does not seem like the best way to go about winning games so close to the 2024 NBA playoffs.
