Miami Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill entered Monday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans on a record pace. The All-Pro has put up 93 receptions for 1,481 yards and 12 touchdowns in 12 games.
This has him on pace for 2,098 yards, which would break Calvin Johnson’s single-season record of 1,964. It also has Hill in the NFL MVP conversation heading down the stretch.
Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network caught up with Hill ahead of Monday’s game. Interestingly, the wide receiver couldn’t care less about the MVP award. In fact, he’d be happier if teammate Tua Tagovailoa came away with it. Hill is more concerned with that 2,000-yard plateau.
No wide receiver has won the Associated Press NFL MVP since voting started all the way back in 1957. Each of the past 10 winners of the award are quarterbacks. The last non-quarterback to win was Adrian Peterson back in 2012. Prior to that, LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006.

As of right now, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is favored to come away with the award. He’s followed by Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Tua Tagovailoa and Patrick Mahomes. Hill comes in with the seventh-best odds.
Even if Hill doesn’t win the MVP, there is a darn good chance that he’ll come away with the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He’ll likely be a finalist with 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey for that award.
