No one feels worse than Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass after Sunday night’s dramatic loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.

Bass missed a potential game-tying 44-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter as his Bills dropped another heartbreaker in the NFL Playoffs. The kick sailed wide right, bringing up terrible memories of postseason failures in the Bills’ past.

Unfortunately, some Bills fans have decided to take their frustration out on Bass in a disgusting manner. The veteran kicker was forced to deactivate his social media accounts after he and his family were the subject of threats online.

This is the dark underbelly of fandom in the sports world. There is also absolutely no place for it. It’s sickening.

It’s also likely a select few. Other Bills fans took to social media to throw their support behind Tyler Bass and the team after Sunday’s loss.

For his part, Bass took complete responsibility for the loss.

“Ultimately, it’s completely on me. I’ve got to do a better job of getting through to my target,” Tyler Bass told reporters. “”I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I’ve got to do a better job. Totally on me.”

Bills QB Josh Allen wasn’t as sure, indicating that the Bills’ drive stalling also played a role in the unfortunate loss.

“I wish it wouldn’t have been put in that situation. You win as a team, you lose as a team,” Allen said.
