Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence to undergo further testing on knee injury

Injuries have been the name of the game for the quarterback position around the NFL on Sunday. We can now add Trevor Lawrence of the Jacksonville Jaguars to that list.

Lawrence was injured late in Sunday’s blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts. It came on a scramble late in the fourth quarter with the former No. 1 overall pick immediately clutching for his left knee. Lawrence was then seen on the sideline attempting to work things out. He did not return to the game with Jacksonville up comfortably by the score of 37-20.

The quarterback will now undergo further testing on his knee. While there is not any real concern over a long-term injury, Lawrence’s status for Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Saints is firmly up in the air. He talked with reporters after the game, downplaying the injury in the process.

“Feel pretty good,” Lawrence told reporters after the game. “Walking around all right. I can’t really say much now but want to make sure everything’s checked out before [the game against the Saints]. It’s a little bit bruised, too, so just trying to kind of sort through what it is now.”

Jacksonville relied more on its defense than Lawrence and the offense on Sunday, forcing three interceptions of Gardner Minshew in the process. However, the young quarterback did account for two touchdown passes. He’s now thrown seven touchdowns and three interceptions for a Jags team that enters Week 7 at 4-2 on the season.

As for Lawrence’s availability moving forward, it could be difficult for him to suit up on a short week against the Saints.

If Lawrence is unable to go, C.J. Beathard would get the start for Jacksonville. We’ll have updates on his injury when they become available.
