Update: Travis Kelce is officially active for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
Record-breaking Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is one of the primary reasons why they are one win from a third Super Bowl appearance in four seasons.
Unfortunately, the future Hall of Famer pulled up lame with a back injury during practice on Friday. While initial indications were that Kelce would be able to play Sunday evening against the Cincinnati Bengals, we’re now not too sure.
According to Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer, Kelce is a real game-time decision for the conference title game. We likely won’t know whether he’ll be on the field until right before kickoff inside Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

Remember, Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is playing despite suffering a high-ankle sprain in last week’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s going to be limited in this one. Potentially being without his No. 1 pass-catcher could have a huge impact on the outcome of the game.
- Travis Kelce stats (2022): 110 receptions, 1,338 yards, 12 TD
Not only did Kelce lead NFL tight ends in receptions and yards during the regular season, he’s been absolutely brilliant in the playoffs.
Over the course of Kelce’s past seven playoff games, the tight end has caught 68 passes for 757 yards and eight touchdowns.
Kansas City and Cincinnati kick off at 6:30 PM EST with a ticket to Super Bowl LVII on the line against the winner of the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles NFC Championship Game. We’ll have updates on Travis Kelce’s status as soon as they become available.
