The Toronto Raptors executed a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks on Saturday, sending OG Anunoby to the Big Apple in exchange for Canadian native RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley.
But there’s a sense that the Raptors aren’t done, and Pascal Siakam could be the next big name on the move.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Raptors are “expected to continue exploring trades” involving their two-time All-NBA power forward.
Siakam has long been mentioned in various trade rumors, but now that the Raptors have signaled a desire to make moves after shipping Anunoby out, the belief is that Siakam could be more available too.
With the 29-year-old Cameroon native in the final year of his contract, his $37 million expiring deal could be viewed as a valuable piece for a team either looking for cap relief or just the chance to rent a two-time All-Star for the second half of the season. Either way, Siakam is available for the right price.
A player who has averaged north of 20 points per game in each of the past five seasons, Siakam can help a lot of teams looking to make a playoff push this year. With the NBA trade deadline set for Feb. 8, the Raptors have plenty of time to weigh their options, but it appears Siakam is no longer part of the future in Toronto.
