What’s the best way to make your division rivals worse? The Tennessee Titans seem to have figured it out, by signing one of your rivals’ biggest targets.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Titans are signing former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley to a monstrous contract worth up to $92 million over four years. The deal includes $50 million in guarantees for the 29-year-old former Falcon and makes him one of the NFL’s highest-paid receivers.

After missing an entire season due to violating the NFL’s gambling policy, Ridley returned in 2023 and posted big numbers.

Ridley’s best season came in 2020 with Matt Ryan throwing him the ball, when the former Alabama star recorded 1,374 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 90 receptions. The Jaguars traded a fifth and 2024 third-round pick in exchange for Ridley, so it’s a bit surprising they weren’t able to get a long-term extension done.

But now Ridley joins a largely unproven Titans receiving corps led by 3x All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins, Treylon Burks, and Chigoziem Okonkwo. With Ridley’s arrival, the Titans’ scoring attack just took a massive leap as Will Levis prepares for his second season of play, and his first full year as Tennessee’s starting QB.
