Former Tennessee Titans top-5 pick unretires, set to hit NFL free agency

Former Tennessee Titans first-round pick Corey Davis shockingly announced his retirement from football at the young age of 28 a year ago this spring.

Davis’ retirement came after he signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the New York Jets during the 2021 NFL free agency period.

He played two seasons with the Jets, recording a combined 66 receptions for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns in just 22 games.

One year removed from calling it quits, Davis has applied for reinstatement back into the NFL. He is now set to become a free agent with the Jets having waived the wide receiver from the reserve/retired list.

Davis, 29, should draw some decent interest on the open market. He was the No. 5 overall pick of the Titans in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Western Michigan. In his first four seasons with Tennessee before landing with the Jets, Davis averaged 52 receptions for 713 yards.

Given just how weak the NFL free agent market is at wide receiver, we would not be surprised if Davis drew some early interest now that he’s unretiring.
