Steelers in fact could trade Martavis Bryant

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant (10) is tackled after a catch by Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin (22) during the second quarter at Heinz Field. Jacksonville won 30-9.

Despite publicly decrying the notion that troubled receiver Martavis Bryant could be traded, there’s now a scenario in play that suggests the Pittsburgh Steelers could in fact move him.

Talking about the Bryant situation in detail, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport had this to say about the potential of a Bryant trade.

By now it’s readily apparent that Bryant is not happy about his situation in Pittsburgh. It led him to calling out a teammate on Instagram earlier in the week, something the brass in Pittsburgh is none too happy about.

It’s also led to Bryant being relegated to scout team duties, which will lead to him being inactive this week.

If the Steelers do in fact move Bryant, there will be a ton of teams interested in his services. The wide receiver-needy New York Giants, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers all come to mind first.

He’d be a long-term option as a reclamation project after Bryant’s career in Pittsburgh has been on a downward trajectory since a breakout 2015 campaign.

The NFL trade deadline is this upcoming Tuesday.
