The NFL Combine saved its fastest players for Saturday and Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy stole the show with the fastest 40 yard dash times in NFL history.
Worthy, a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection at Texas, arrived for the NFL Combine and put on a show of speed like few others have before. Heading into Saturday, Clemson Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins (4.28 seconds) was the only prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft to run a sub-4.3 in the 40-yard dash.

Already viewed as a likely first-round pick, Worthy certainly could’ve played things safe at the NFL Combine. Instead, a few minutes after running a 4.25 in the 40, he neat former NFL wide receiver John Ross with the official record for the fastest 40 time in NFL Combine history at 4.21 seconds.
Worthy backed up his words and then some on Saturday night, proving he is the undisputed fastest player in the 2024 NFL Draft. Moments later, the NFL officially announced Worthy has the fastest 40 time ever with 4.21 seconds.

Once the time was made official and Worthy earned his place in the record books, NFL Network provided the simulcast proving worthy beat Ross’ record.
One thing Worthy clearly demonstrated on Sunday is that he has the long speed to make explosive plays vertically. While his 10-yard split (1.49 seconds) tied for third among all players at the NFL Combine, he bested everyone by a significant margin with his 40-yard run.

That’s not all Worthy did to prove his athleticism either. He posted the fourth-highest vertical jump (41 inches) among wide receiver prospects with the fifth-best broad jump (10’11”). While times are still unofficial, Worthy will go down in the record books with one of the fastest 40 yard dash times ever and the NFL world is loving it.
