San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Johnny Cueto was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right flexor strain. The move is retroactive to Monday.

The stint is set to be Cueto’s second trip to the IL this season. He spent three weeks on the IL in April and May.

Cueto, 35, is 7-6 with a 3.89 ERA in 19 starts this season. In his five starts since the All-Star Break, he has a 3.12 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 26 innings.

Giants manager Gabe Kapler told reporters the hope is Cueto only misses one start.

Infielder Thairo Estrada was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. In 31 games with the Giants this season, Estrada is hitting .303 with three home runs and 13 RBIs.
