New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu is joining some of the other best players in the WNBA for All-Star Weekend in Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old Ionescu was considered one of the top prospects in WNBA history when she entered the league as the No. 1 pick from Oregon back in 2020. She has lived up to that billing since.
That was no more apparent than during Friday’s WNBA three-point shooting contest inside Mandalay Bay.
Ionescu absolutely dominated the competition. She missed all of two shots while scoring 37 points in the final round. Just check it out.
Look at those quick releases. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson would sure be proud.
To put this into perspective, the NBA record in a three-point shooting contest is 31 total points with five misses. She shot 25-of-27 from distance in the final round while making 14 consecutive shots.
Sabrina Ionescu stats (2023): 16.4 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 5.1 APG, 45% 3-point shooting
As you can see, the Liberty star has been on absolute fire from three-point range this season. She didn’t hit on more than 35% in any of her first three seasons in the league. Good stuff here as the WNBA takes center stage in Sin City.
