Kyle Busch moved over to Richard Childress Racing after spending over a decade with Joe Gibbs Racing and right off the bat, the results have been amazing. Busch won the NASCAR Cup Series race at Auto Club Speedway in dominant fashion.
It was the second race of the 2023 NASCAR season and the driver of the No. 8 car already has some pressure off his shoulders. Quite frankly, Richard Childress, the owner of the organization, looks like a genius for hiring Busch.
The No. 8 car has been fast in every single race, including the Busch Light Clash where points do not count. Despite the major success from Busch thus far, Childress gave him a big piece of advice for the rest of the season.

Richard Childress gives a critical piece of advice to new driver Kyle Busch
Busch found himself on the podium at the Busch Light Clash as his teammate Austin Dillon and former teammate Martin Truex Jr. stood by him. It represented a good start to his tenure at Richard Childress Racing.
Then, he was in a prime position to win his first 2023 Datyona 500 with a few laps to go before a yellow flag was in the air. Busch started overtime as the leader but failed to win the event. It was another disappointing Daytona 500 finish for him.
Due to this result, it now marks 18 times that Busch has left the Great American Race without a victory. Childress went on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and talked about the advice he gave Busch following his loss almost one week ago.
“Once (the Daytona 500) was over, I texted (Kyle Busch) and told him. I said, ‘Now we gotta wait 364 days before you get another shot. That’s what Earnhardt would always say. We got another year, we’ll go win all we can and come back in 365 days.’”
Richard Childress’ advice to Kyle Busch following the 2023 Daytona 500
This is something that Childress is used to dealing with throughout his time of being an owner in the NASCAR Cup Series. Dale Earnhardt Sr., the former driver of the No. 3 car, is often regarded as a top-3 driver in NASCAR history.
Despite his overall success, Earnhardt was never able to win the Daytona 500 until his 20th start in the event. Busch will be entering his 19th start as a multi-time champion when the 2024 season arrives.
Busch and Richard Childress Racing are a perfect match. The driver and owner both gel really well together and if that continues to be the case, Busch will be in victory lane several more times this year.
