Brent Seabrook, who retired last week after a lengthy career that included three Stanley Cup championships with the Chicago Blackhawks, thanked fans with a full-page ad Sunday in the Chicago Sun-Times.

Seabrook, 35, played a key role in the Blackhawks’ title runs in 2010, 2013 and 2015. He retired due to hip and shoulder injuries after appearing in 1,114 career games with 103 goals and 361 assists.

The full-page ad included a picture of Seabrook along with the words “Thank you” in large, red font.

“Thank you for letting a 20-year-old kid from Western Canada call this city home for my entire 15-year National Hockey League career,” Seabrook wrote. “Thank you for allowing me to play the game I love in front of you. Thank you for accepting my family and me as part of your community. Thank you for all the cheers and the energy, the Cups, the parades, the memories.

“This may be goodbye for now, but Chicago will forever be my home and I will always be a Blackhawk.”
