Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ray-Ray McCloud lands on COVID list

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed wide receiver and kick returner Ray-Ray McCloud on the reserve/COVID-19 list among a series of transactions Tuesday.

The Steelers promoted tight end Kevin Rader from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, signed guard Rashaad Coward and tight end Jace Sternberger to the practice squad, and released quarterback James Morgan from the practice squad.

The Rader and Sternberger moves coincided with reports that veteran tight end Eric Ebron could be headed for knee surgery.

Ebron, 28, was hurt in Sunday night’s 41-37 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers and is awaiting a second opinion on his diagnosis, ESPN reported. He has 12 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown in eight games this season.

McCloud, 25, has caught 19 passes for 141 yards and rushed twice for 15 yards in 10 games. He is also averaging 8.8 yards per punt return and 24.0 yards per kickoff return.

The Steelers (5-4-1) face the Bengals (6-4) in Cincinnati on Sunday.
