Phoenix Suns insider reveals team’s offseason wish list

After a 49-33 record that ended with a whimper in a first-round playoff sweep, the Phoenix Suns know they have to get better this offseason. They’re in the same boat as 28 other teams sitting on the outside of the NBA Finals.

Throughout their struggles, Suns GM James Jones realized Phoenix needed not only a new head coach but also several roster changes. The Suns may or may not be committed to the Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal core, but what about the rest?

According to John Gambadoro, via The Burns & Gambo Show, the Suns are prioritizing three main priorities heading into the offseason. The Suns’ top needs are (h/t Evan Sidery):

After the Suns’ star starting five failed to lead to the results Phoenix was looking for, now they’ll try getting a legitimate point guard to distribute the ball instead of always relying on Booker, Beal, and Durant to shoulder the load. It’s not a bad idea as long as the right fit comes along.

Otherwise, the rest of the needs are fairly standard, too. After losing much of their depth to build their big three, the Suns quickly realized they had a dire need for better bench production, and now we know what that plan will look like, it’s just a matter of finding players at an affordable rate while keeping the star trio together.
