The Philadelphia Eagles already made one of the biggest moves ahead of the 2023 NFL trade deadline by acquiring All-Pro safety Kevin Byard. However, there are more NFL trade rumors suggesting the Eagles aren’t done.

Philadelphia needed reinforcements in its secondary, due to both injuries and some regression from their pass defense. Not only is Byard a native of the area, but his leadership and skills in coverage are viewed as huge additions to the Eagles’ defense.

However, there’s still plenty of room to improve. While Philadelphia’s defensive success is helped by one of the best defensive lines in the NFL, it still has some shortcomings in the front seven.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Eagles’ general manager Howie Roseman wants to make another move ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Oct. 31. He’s expected to be working the phones heavily on Monday, with linebacker the position he’s most focused on.

Linebacker is definitely an area where the Eagles could improve. Zach Cunningham, Nakobe Dean and Nicholas Morrow have been rotating at the position this year. While Philadelphia has been able to make things work, Roseman recognizes that the team can be more well-equipped in the middle of its defense.

However, there might be limited options. Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks was viewed as one of the best off-ball linebackers likely to be available, but the price has gone up and the likelihood of a trade has decreased because of Minnesota’s winning streak.

There are still a few potential Eagles trade targets to keep an eye on. The Denver Broncos are looking for draft picks and could move linebacker Alex Singleton or Josey Jewel. It’s also possible teams like the Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders shop off-ball linebackers at the deadline.

One thing has become clear with the NFL trade deadline approaching. Even after adding an All-Pro safety and filling the biggest hole on the roster, the Eagles remain one of the most aggressive teams on the trade market.
