The Philadelphia Eagles had the best NFL roster in 2024, winning the Super Bowl in convincing fashion over the Kansas City Chiefs. With the NFL offseason underway, there appears to be a growing belief the Eagles roster could experience a significant talent drain.

The Eagles coaching staff has already been raided. Philadelphia lost offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to the New Orleans Saints immediately after the Super Bowl victory. Since taking over as the Saints coach, Moore hired Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator while Eagles run game specialist T.J. Paganetti is coming to New Orleans for an unspecific role.

Philadelphia knew during its playoff run that Moore would take over as the Saints head coach, bringing several assistants with him. After hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, general manager Howie Roseman is now in danger of losing several key players off the Eagles roster.

ESPN‘s Dan Graziano wrote that the Eagles are in real jeopardy of losing a “significant amount” of starters from their Super Bowl-winning defense this offseason. That includes both players eligible for NFL free agency and potential cap casualties.

It starts up front with defensive linemen Josh Sweat and Milton Williams expected to land lucrative contracts as two of the best defensive players available. At the current prices both players are expected to land on the open market, Graziano doesn’t believe either will be in a price range Philadelphia is comfortable with.

At linebacker, All-Pro Zack Baun is poised to turn a breakout season on a $3.5 million contract into a lucrative multi-year deal that could make him one of the highest-paid players at his position. Losing Baun would be an even bigger blow for a team that doesn’t have a clear timeline for when Nakobe Dean will return from his injury next season.

As for the Eagles’ secondary, Graziano notes that both cornerback Darius Slay Jr and defensive back James Bradberry are potential cap casualties this offseason. While moving on from both likely opens up enough money to re-sign Baun, the Eagles defensive linemen are still likely to depart.
