NBA free agency tips off Sunday, June 30. One of the biggest questions fans are focused on is whether Paul George will be with the Los Angeles Clippers by the time next season begins.

For now, George is set to play out the final year of his contract on a $48.7 million player option for next season. Yet, many believe the nine-time All-Star will opt out of his current agreement and sign a longer deal, either with the Clippers or with another team. He has until the 29th to decide whether he’s opting in or hitting the open market.

One of the NBA teams with the most cap space is the Philadelphia 76ers, who have been strongly linked to signing George this offseason. But recent reports indicate that George isn’t interested in joining Joel Embiid’s championship effort.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, George, a California native, may prefer to stay on the West Coast.

“I’m not so sure Paul George really wanted to leave the West Coast. I think that was something Philadelphia kind of ran into when they kicked the tires there.”

If true, George still has several options to choose from, but only a handful will have the necessary cap space to add the 34-year-old cap space to the roster. Of course, it’s always possible George and the Clippers agree to a sign-and-trade, giving more teams a chance to get involved.
