Why Ohio State could have the best offense in the country next season

Ohio State: Henderson

With Quinshon Judkins transferring to Ohio State, the Buckeyes could have the best rushing offense in the nation next season, possibly the best offense overall.

Judkins, a two-year starting running back at Ole Miss, announced on a social network earlier this month that he had picked Ohio State. He will team with TreVeyon Henderson, who decided not to enter the NFL Draft and return to Ohio State.

Henderson rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns in his freshman season. This year, he missed eight games because of various injuries and finished with 926 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Judkins had two 1,000-yard seasons at Ole Miss. He had 271 carries for 1,158 yards and SEC-best 15 touchdowns this past season. He has more than 3,000 all-purpose yards and 34 total touchdowns in his two seasons there.

Also in the mix is Alabama’s top prospect, Julian Sayin, who transferred to Ohio State after Nick Saban announced his retirement. He was one of several top prospects to leave Alabama.

Judkins announced he was going to Ohio State Monday night, right after Michigan beat Washington 34-13 to win the national championship.

Good timing, since the Wolverines are the Buckeyes’ biggest rival. That wasn’t lost on Judkins, who called out Michigan in his announcement.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of a winning culture and helping do my part to beat the TUN (Michigan) bring a Big 10 Championship and National Championship to Columbus. The RB brotherhood at Ohio State is incredibly special and I am grateful to have an opportunity to be a part of that,” he wrote.

The Buckeyes’ offense also added former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard in the portal. In four seasons with the Wildcats, Howard holds the school record with 48 career passing touchdowns. He had 24 TD passes this past season.

In the past two seasons, Howard was 12-5 as Kansas State’s starter. Last season, he led the Wildcats to a win in the Big 12 title game against TCU.

He threw 15 TD passes in his final six games and posted a four-TD performance against Texas. Howard also had a big game against the same Mizzou team that manhandled Ohio State in the bowl game (270 yards, three TD passes in a 30-27 loss in September).

Julian Sayin leaves Alabama to join Ohio State

One of the top quarterback prospects in the country, Julian Sayin, announced his decision to leave Alabama after Saban’s retirement.

He opted to go to Ohio State partly because he knew Buckeyes offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien from the time O’Brien was recruiting him to Alabama.
