The Montreal Canadiens have added a pair of prospects to their pool, selecting Parker Trottier with the 189th overall pick, and Wesley Royston with the 190th overall pick.

Trottier, 18, is an intense prospect who drives opponents up a wall. His gas tank is never empty, allowing him to apply a ferocious forecheck whenever the opportunity arises. He scored eight goals and six assists in 24 games for the USNTDP last season. The left-shooting forward stands at 6’1″, 185lb.

Royston, 18, is a 6’4″ right-winger who possesses high-end skating, which he uses as often as possible in transition to create controlled exits and entries. He split his time between two teams last season, the Erie Otters (2 goals, 2 assists, 13 games), and the Owen Sound Attack (10 goals, 5 assists, 45 games).

While he doesn’t project as an offensive dynamo, we do have to be realistic about the players available in the later rounds of the NHL Entry Draft.

Seeing as they could not swing a deal for a player who can make an immediate impact in the NHL, the Canadiens opted to use their first round pick, selecting Gleb Pugachyov. They also moved up in the draft to ensure they could select Pugachyov with the 26th overall pick.

The Montreal Canadiens owned eight draft picks heading into the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, but they made several trades to change the draft order.
