Has it felt like Travis Kelce has been on TV more often this year than ever before? Perhaps even more than two-time NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes?
You’re not wrong. Kelce has been on TV more this year than ever before. In fact, not only has Kelce been featured more than Mahomes in TV commercials, the Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro tight end has been in more ads than any other NFL athlete in 2023.
It’s not because Kelce is having a record-setting season or anything close. In fact, the 34-year-old is on pace for a slightly less productive season than last year, yet he’s still set to make another All-Pro team and will easily clear 1,000 receiving yards.
The real reason Kelce has surpassed his fellow Chiefs teammate is obvious. Since his relationship with music icon Taylor Swift became public, NFL sponsors haven’t been able to get enough of Kelce.
According to Katie Deighton of The Wall Street Journal, Kelce has appeared on-screen in 375 commercials during NFL games this season heading into Week 15. Mahomes has appeared in 341 commercials.
All the commercials were already filmed before the season began, but sponsors have since adjusted the frequency of their commercials, capitalizing on Kelce’s newfound fame. With the Chiefs on path to make the playoffs again, don’t expect the influx of Kelce ads to decrease any time soon, especially with Swift starring from the family suite.
