The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl LIX largely because they had the best roster in the NFL by a significant margin. With the roster headed for a bit of an overhaul this offseason, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman could have something big planned to make up for it.
Philadelphia is at risk of losing multiple starters on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. The Eagles coaching staff was also raided, with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore taking several assistants with him to the New Orleans Saints.

It might be part of the reason why Eagles general manager Howie Roseman cautioned the fan base ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine that this offseason might not look very typical.
“It may look different — some of the moves that we may have to make here may not be what are necessarily on other peoples’ minds. It’s probably not going to look like maybe the conventional wisdom thinks it should look. I would just ask our fans to just have patience throughout the offseason. The offseason doesn’t stop in free agency. The offseason doesn’t stop in the draft.”

However, on a recent episode of the Scoop City podcast, senior NFL writer Dianna Russini of The Athletic shared that the Eagles front office wants to make a “big swing” this offseason. Among the options under consideration, Roseman could make a big push for Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett.
“I think they’re going to make an effort here. But here’s what some people are saying right now, that how he’s willing to move on from some of these guys, because he’s looking to make a big swing and take a big swing, and that big swing would be for Myles Garrett. So some of these guys that you think are a sure thing may not be sure things to return to Philly.”

The report could coincide with Roseman’s comments. Philadelphia’s draft history under Roseman is outstanding, especially at positions of need the club will likely want to address (cornerback and edge rusher) this offseason. Instead of using those picks, though, Roseman could move them in a deal for a top pass rusher like Garrett or Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby.

Philadelphia could also see what options are out there at off-ball linebacker. All-Pro Zack Baun is headed for a massive contract in NFL free agency and Nakobe Dean is in jeopardy of missing a significant portion of the 2025 season due to his torn patellar tendon. It creates a dire need at a position that haunted Philadelphia for years before Baun’s arrival.
The A.J. Brown trade demonstrates Roseman’s willingness to be aggressive on the trade market, even moving first-round picks, if it means acquiring a difference-maker. If the depth of the Eagles roster is sacrificed this offseason, Roseman could replace it with another All-Pro starter.
