The Los Angeles Rams have already been busy this offseason, taking trade calls on former All-Pro receiver Cooper Kupp, who’s widely expected to change teams before the 2025 season kicks off. However, now the Rams are also facing the possibility of trading Matthew Stafford too.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, four teams have already expressed interest in trading for Stafford. Yet, considering he’s a former Super Bowl winner coming off a playoff win, other teams could get involved too. Here, we look at the eight teams that make the most sense to trade for Stafford this offseason.

Tennessee Titans
What if the Titans realize none of this year’s top quarterbacks are worthy of a top draft pick? Trading for a 37-year-old Matthew Stafford would buy another season to continue evaluating Will Levis while waiting for a better quarterback prospect to arrive in the 2026 NFL Draft. Plus, after finishing with the NFL’s worst record last season, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Titans are desperate to win now.

Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have been waiting on Anthony Richardson for two seasons now, and he’s still under contract for two more seasons. Going after Stafford now wouldn’t be a death knell for the former Colts first-round pick; it might even motivate Richardson just enough to help him reach his full potential. Whether that’s with the Colts or another team remains to be seen.

Minnesota Vikings
Reigning NFL Coach of the Year Kevin O’Connell and Stafford have a lot of mutual respect for each other after helping combine to help the Rams win Super Bowl LVI. O’Connell knows what Stafford is capable of, and the Vikings may want some more time before handing the keys over to a 22-year-old J.J. McCarthy, who’s coming off a season-ending knee surgery that robbed him of valuable time to develop his game and build strength.

New York Jets
Picking seventh, the Jets might not find their QB of the future in the 2025 NFL Draft and they don’t have a short-term starter on the roster. Trading for Stafford gives first-year head coach Aaron Glenn a QB he can immediately win with. Plus, Garrett Wilson would be happy, and who knows, the Jets might even be able to get Davante Adams to stick around at a lower rate too.

Cleveland Browns
The Browns need to find a starter for at least one season after Deshaun Watson re-tore his Achilles late in 2024. Not to mention, Kevin Stefanski could be on the hot seat after winning just three games last season. If the Browns could get a veteran quarterback, they’d be able to use the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on another top prospect such as Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. That could appeal to a team looking to bounce back quickly after winning 11 games in 2023.

New York Giants
GM Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll enter their fourth season together on the hot seat in New York. They have to carve out more than the three wins they suffered through in 2024, and trading for a two-time Pro Bowl QB like Stafford might just do the trick now that Malik Nabers has arrived.

Las Vegas Raiders
Pete Carroll didn’t sign up to be the Raiders’ head coach just to see them lose for the next couple of seasons. He wants to win now. Plus, with the Raiders not picking until sixth, Las Vegas may miss out on the top two quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, trading for Stafford would instantly raise the ceiling of an offense led by Brock Bowers and his new Pro Bowl QB.

Pittsburgh Steelers
IF Stafford leaves the Rams, he’ll want to ensure it’s for a place where he can win right away. There’s no better landing spot than in Pittsburgh, where Mike Tomlin has gone 18 consecutive seasons without a losing record. Inject Stafford into an offense that has George Pickens and watch the Steelers make the playoffs again, for the fifth time in the past six seasons.
