The New York Jets reportedly attempted to make a blockbuster trade for superstar receiver Davante Adams in October and a team insider believes they will again make overtures on a deal in the offseason.
After losing Aaron Rodgers to a likely season-ending Achilles injury four plays into his regular season debut, the Jets have been fighting to stay afloat in the AFC East and Wild Card chase. Led by their talented defense, the team is 4-4 heading into a Week 10 game against the Raiders and is still in the playoff hunt.

The hope is to be able to hover around .500 and make a late-season run if Rodgers can miraculously return to the field for the final four games. That has been the plan for some time and is why the organization was believed to be active before the NFL trade deadline in October.
Unfortunately, they were not able to improve the offense for backup Zach Wilson or Rodgers if he does return. One trade the team allegedly tried to make was for disgruntled Las Vegas receiver Davante Adams. However, as the deadline grew closer, the Raiders chose to hold on to the six-time Pro Bowler.
New York Jets insider claims team could target Davante Adams in offseason

Beyond just being, arguably, the best receiver in the sport Adams has a friendship with Rodgers after the two were a dynamic duo in Green Bay for eight seasons. With the two teams set to face off this Sunday, the pair showed off the bond they still have when Adams posted a picture on his social media of them hanging out in New York this weekend.
That may only add to the belief that ESPN New York Jets reporter Rich Cimini has about one potential move the team could make next year. Writing on Sunday “One ‘Rodgers guy’ who makes sense is Raiders wide receiver, Davante Adams. The Jets inquired about him at the trade deadline and they could try again in the offseason. He’d be a perfect fit with Rodgers in the Jets’ offense.”

Adams wants to be on a team that can compete for a Super Bowl title and as long as Rodgers is on the roster, the Jets are very much in win it all now mode. If they have the chips necessary to land the three-time All-Pro in a trade is the big question.
